Planet Layers go hand-in-hand with Splaces. Splace is the word we use for PlanetBlue “Places” and “Spaces”. Check the Splaces page on this site if you haven't already done so.

 

PlanetBlue allows anyone to create layers and link their Splaces to one or more layers. It’s a way of grouping Splaces while still locating them anywhere in the world.

 

You might have a family layer that you share with all of your family members. You can attach family Splaces to the layer. For example, you have a wonderful place to fish on a favorite nearby river. Create a Splace in PlanetBlue, anchor the Splace to the actual geolocation, then link the Splace to your family layer. Now anyone can find it on the family layer. They can view it in 3D or VR, then when they travel there in-real-life and actually go fishing, they can view your Virtual-self showing them the best techniques for casting out to the perfect rock.

 

If you’re shopping and you see something you like, create a Splace, drop an anchor, link to your “My Friends” layer and now all of your friends can find the Splace you created.  They can view it in 3D, and when they arrive, they see your comments you posted and the images you uploaded in Augmented reality. You are leaving your AR footprint on the world.

Businesses can create layers too.

 

Private business layers could contain links to all the work Splaces for the company staff. A complete virtual company can be created using layers and Splaces. The Splaces could contain any objects that can be used to improve work efficiency.

 

A business may also want to create a commercial public layer linking all of its product Splaces and placing them throughout retail locations allowing anyone to access the Splaces. For example, if you sell electric drills, you could create a layer, “Acme Tools and Drills”, then create a Splace in your retailer’s location, attached to your Layer. When a customer arrives at the store, they turn on your Layer and see the AR display of your products in the store. Of course, the Splace could include an AR brand bot that could answer questions and guide the customer to the correct product model.

 

This Layer/Splace method allows you to “inject” your content into any physical location in the world without ever going there. Customers or authorized users can “turn on” your layer and experience your Splaces and AI powered bots in real-time.
